AWANA at Matthew Road is for children ages 3 through 5 and those in kindergarten through 6th grade.
For ages 3 (by September 1st) – 5 years old. All children need to be fully potty trained, and a parent must be on campus for the duration of the evening. There are adult Bible studies available from 6:45-8:00.
Cubbies will meet in the nursery hallway of the red roof building. They will have play time (either in the room or on the playground), Bible time, verse time, snack time, and sometimes craft time. Your Cubbie will have a book that will be sent home each week. Please read through the stories and the verse(s) with your child. This begins a love for God’s Word early. It also lets your child know that the things of God are important everywhere, not only at church. Your Cubbie will also have a blue vest. They will earn awards that their teachers will place on their vest for them. You are welcome to have your child leave their vest at the church.
For grades Kindergarten through 2nd Grade.
Sparks will begin upstairs in the education building for opening along with our 3rd-6th graders. In opening we will worship, share announcements, and pray. Their night consists of opening, game time (either outside or upstairs in the game room), small group time, then large group time. They will have a book that will go home with them. Please use these books during the week to review their upcoming verse(s), read through the story, and do the activities as they come up. Talking about the things of God while at home is extremely important. Your Spark will also have a red vest. This vest will be where they will put their awards as they receive them throughout the year. If you would like to leave their vest at the church, they are more than welcome to do that.
Occasionally our Sparks will have a “store” night. This is where they will be able to spend “bucks” that they have earned. They earn these bucks by attending, wearing their vest, having their Bible and Sparks book, reciting their verse, and other opportunities.
For grades 3rd through 6th Grade.
Our T&T club begins upstairs in the education building for opening. In opening, we will worship, share announcements, and pray. Their night consists of opening, large group time, small group time, then game time. They will have a book that will go home with them. Please use these books during the week to allow them to begin a practice of weekly reading of Scripture and practicing the upcoming verse(s) to be recited. This is such an important practice to learn. Having parents guide in this is extremely helpful.
In the past, we have required uniform shirts for our T&T students. This year it is not a requirement. If you want them to wear their shirt weekly and apply their awards to their shirt, they are more than welcome! We will also have pennants for the students to apply awards to. They will receive these at the end of the year awards night.
A few times during the year they will have a store night. This is where they will be able to spend “bucks” that they have earned from being ready each night with their Bible and handbook, reciting their verse, working on extra Silver and Gold sections, and other opportunities.
