Becoming All Things to All People for the Sake of the Gospel, I Corinthians 9:19-23

1. Paul was Free from All by Virtue of His Position as an Apostle and His Approach to Ministry (See I Corinthians 9:1)

    A. Free in his personal life to marry, eat and drink with freedom

    B. Free in his ministry life to receive compensation, to be free from work outside of the ministry of the church

2.  Paul was a Slave to All by Virtue of His Passion for the Gospel

    A.  Not on moral issues which would ignore the first 8 chapters of I Corinthians and the rest of Paul's letters and the rest of the Bible

    B.  On cultural issues

          1. If they were Jewish, Paul appealed to them in their Jewish background

          2. If they were Gentiles, Paul appealed to them in their Gentile background

          3. In all things, Paul was careful not to become a stumbling block to the Gospel

3.  All of this for this one passion, the Gospel of Christ
