Glory, Glorify, Glorification: the Keys to Worship

Definitions:

  1. Worship: To express honor and thanksgiving to God through individual acts, corporate gatherings or through acts of service
  2. Praise: To use words or music as an expression of worship
  3. Honor: To respond to God with a proper understanding of who we are in relation to who He is
  4. Fear: To acknowledge the power and authority of God over all creation, especially over our lives
  5. Exalt: To express with words and actions the lofty position and preeminence of God
  6. Magnify: To see and declare God as great as He really is

 

Glory, Glorify and Glorification as the Key to Worship (and all of life)

  1. The Glory of God: The Attributes of God, all that He is and all that       He has done
  2. Glorifying God: The act of attributing glory through music, meditation, speaking, and praying to God all that He is and all that He   has done
  3. Glorification by God: The work of God to transform us into His image so that we are able to see His glory and to glorify Him forever in His         presence

John 4:23-24 An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Definitions:

--

1.   Worship: To express honor and thanksgiving to God through individual acts, corporate gatherings or through acts of service

I.   The Glory of God: The Attributes of God, All that He is and all that He has done

--

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

--

II.   Glorifying God: The act of attributing glory through music, meditation, speaking, and praying to God all that He is and all that He has done

Psalm 86:9-10 All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God.

Psalm 29:1-2 Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in holy array.

Luke 2:14-20 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”...The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

III. Glorification by God: The work of God to transform us into His image so that we are able to see His glory and to glorify Him forever in His presence

I John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

Romans 8:16-18 ...if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

John 17:22-23 The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

John 17:24 Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
