Quick to Hear, Slow to Speak and Slow to Anger, James 1:17-27

I.       Every Good and Perfect Gift is from God

II.      God Brought Us Forth by the Word of Truth

          A.      More than a general reference to creation, but a specific reference to the new creation in Christ

          B.      See also John 1:12-13, 3:1-16, I Peter 1:3, 23, I John 3:9, 4:7, 5:1, 4, 18

          C.      His motive is the primary position believers hold over all of creation

          D.      See also Romans 8:23 and I Corinthians 15:20-23

III.   Therefore, since we have been brought forth by His Word...let us be

A. Quick to hear

B. Slow to speak

C. Slow to anger

D. Because our anger does not accomplish God's righteousness 

IV. The implanted Word impacts more than just our speech and our anger but all of life

V. The implanted word is more than just hearing but actually doing God's Word

VI. Two examples, one negative and one positive, of being doers and not just hearers 

A. Negative: Failure to control our words

B. Positive: ministry to those in need
