  • How in this journey I ultimately found myself thinking a bit on John 1:14
  • Read John 1:14 (Slide 3 – John 1:14)

  • Read John 1:17-18 (Slide 6 – John 1:17-18)
  • John brings up Moses
  • What about Moses prompts John to mention him?
  • Well, in John 1:14, “we saw His glory…”
  • There is much from the life of Moses that would prompt the writer to think about Him

  • The nation had seen the glory of God on display in the plagues
  • In Exodus 24, at Mount Sinai, God had visited the people in a theophany
  • Read Exodus 24:16-18 (Slide 7 – Exodus 24:16-18)
  • After Moses goes up on the mountain to receive the ten commandments, Aaron host a pagan ritual and makes the golden calf

  • He then returns, begging God to stay with them
  • Then He has this request
  • Read Exodus 33:18 (Slide 8 – Exodus 33:18)
  • Read Exodus 33:19 (Slide 9 – Exodus 33:19)

  • Picture (Slide 10 – Picture of the Glory of God on Mount Sinai)

Conclusion: Through adoption and by the grace of God there are many children of God, children who are brought into God’s family through receiving Jesus Christ. However, there is one and only one uniquely the Son of God as the One bearing all of the attributes of God. We were created to know, experience, enjoy and reflect the glory of God, especially as known, experienced, enjoyed and reflected in His Son, Jesus Christ.
