The Simplicity of the Gospel: Confess and Believe and You Will Be Saved, Romans 10:9-13

I.       Salvation: A Heart's Desire and Prayer for Others, Romans 10:1-4

II.      Salvation: The Message is Right in Front of You, Romans 10:5-8

III.    Salvation: Comes through confession and belief, Romans 10:9-10

          A.      Confess with your mouth that "Jesus is Lord"

Confess comes from the Greek homo (same), logos (word). Confess means to say the same thing about Jesus as God says about Jesus.  "He is Lord."  Philippians 2:5-11

          B.      Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead

Believe means to put your trust, your hope, your life in Christ.  "Believe that God raised from the dead" captures the whole of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only means of being righteous before God

IV.    Salvation: Is Freely Offered to All, Romans 10:11-13

          A.      The promises of God for salvation as stated in the Old Testament

          B.      The promises of God for salvation as applied to all people
