Genesis 1, Psalm 19, Isaiah 40, Matthew 28:19-20, Hebrews 1:1-3

From Matthew Road Statement of Faith…

We believe that God the Holy Spirit inspired holy men to write the Scriptures, illuminates humans to understand truth, exalts Christ, convicts humans of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; calls people to the Savior, effects regeneration, and baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He indwells and seals the believer unto the day of redemption.

We believe the Bible is the Word of God, written by men under the influence of the Holy Spirit, and given as final authority to reveal the nature of God and His purposes, and the final authority over all faith and practices. The Scriptures are both fully and verbally inspired by God and are, thus, free of error.

The Holy Spirit at Work within Individuals:

  1. Exalts Christ
  2. Illuminates us to understand truth
  3. Convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgment
  4. Calls us to the Savior
  5. Effects regeneration in us
  6. Baptizes us into the Body of Christ (the church)
  7. Indwells and seals us until the Day of Redemption

The Holy Spirit at Work in Writing of the Bible:

  1. The Bible was written under the power of the Holy Spirit
  2. Therefore, it is without error
  3. Therefore, it is the final authority on truth
